SAPS through its media are, revealed that on the 4th January 2017 at approximately 8:20 in the evening, Durban Flying Squad members pounced on five suspects in a VW Polo on Pendlebury Road in Wentworth, after the vehicle matched positively to a hijacked vehicle from the Chatsworth area. The suspects were identified as five house breaking suspects, and were found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and live rounds of ammunition.
Members of Durban Flying Squad were performing a highway patrol within the Ethekwini Inner South area, when they noticed the suspicious motor vehicle on the road. The members pulled over the suspicious vehicle, searched the vehicle, and recovered the two firearms.
Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Commander, Major General Keerath Nunkumar, commended members of the Durban Flying Squad for their swift reaction in apprehending the five suspects. “We will be working efficiently to ensure house breaking suspects are arrested in order for the community to feel safer,” he said.
