OR Tambo International Airport known for its business and service delivery has been making headlines recently for the wrong reasons.
The SARS seems to be doing their best to maintain proper security in the airport.
Nearly two tons of male sexual enhancement tablets worth R20.6m have been seized at OR Tambo International Airport, SARS said on Monday.
Customs officials intercepted a shipment at the transit sheds containing 80 000 tablets and 126 000 “oral jellies” wrapped in brown sacks on Sunday, spokesperson Sandile Memela said in a statement.
The shipment came from Bombay, India, and was destined for Swaziland.
“The tablets were restricted, controlled substances and must have permits when being imported.”
The shipment, weighing 1809 kg, was handed to the Medicines Control Council for further investigation.
