A 23-year-old man who allegedly killed his father and brother is due to appear in the Melmoth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The man who was arrested on the scene has been charged with two counts of murder.
He is alleged to have hacked and stabbed his 40-year-old father and his 24-year-old brother to death.
According to KZN police spokesman, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, police were alerted to a double murder in the KwaNgqekwane area in Melmoth on Tuesday morning.
“On arrival police discovered the two bodies in a rondavel on the homestead. Both had sustained multiple injuries on their head and body. It is alleged that they were hacked and stabbed by a family member last night and the matter was only reported to the police this morning.”
Mbele said the weapon suspected to be used during the attack was found and seized as an exhibit.
