The continuing attack of police and police stations in some parts of the country has elicited different reactions from some stakeholders.

‘If government can’t afford to hire security companies to protect our police and police stations, let them at least send the SANDF to protect our police and police stations, especially at night’, Eastern Cape Commissioner Liziwe Ntshinga.

This is coming after the chairperson of the portfolio committee Francois Beukman expressed serious concern about the effectiveness of the safety strategy of the South Africa police Service at different stations around the country, following Saturdays attack of police station in Eastern Cape.

It is becoming more concerning how criminals have become so brazen  that they now subject police stations saddled with the responsibility to fight crime  as their new target of  attacks.

According to him it is regretable that the firearms stolen will contribute to the pool of weapons used by criminals to unleash havoc against innocent citizens.

However, Eastern Cape commissioner strongly condemned the senseless attack.

“we will track these robbers and will not rest until they all have been apprehended”

A task team of expert detectives including the directorate for priority crime investigation and organised crime has been reportedly put on  motion to bring the robbers to justice.

“If government can’t afford security companies to protect our police and police stations, let them at least send SANDF to protect the police and police stations at least at night” Ntshinga noted.
