The FeesMustFall protest is gradually getting out of hand in many parts of South Africa. Students are adamant they want free Education; the government doesn’t want to give in to their demands.
Many State property have been destroyed by protesting students and many students have been arrested by the police.
The worst happened yesterday when an SABC van was set on fire by angry protesting students in Braamfontein. Police tried to calm the chaos down.
Four other fires were started on the Wits campus earlier in the evening but were quickly extinguished.
The protesting students made the Braamfontein area a no-go zone by throwing stones at passing cars and destroying property.
Residence students were told to stay indoors while medics, anticipating injuries, had reportedly taken up posts inside the Holy Trinity Catholic Church that flanks the university on Jan Smuts Avenue.
