A driver transporting disabled children in a minibus taxi from their home to a special needs school was involved in a collision with a bakkie and died on the spot along with one disabled child.

The accident happened on the R25 at Bronkhorstspruit in Gauteng.

“Two of the disabled children are in a critical condition‚ the rest sustained moderate to minor injuries‚” said Netcare911.

“The driver of the bakkie and one of the disabled children‚ a girl‚ were declared dead at the scene.”

One of the children was airlifted to a hospital in Johannesburg for further medical care by the Netcare 1 helicopter.

“The rest of the injured children were stabilised on scene and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further medical care‚” said Netcare 911.
