In a bid to attain justice, the Ntuzuma Regional Court has sentenced a 43-year-old man to 20 years i n prison for raping his 13-year-old daughter in Amaoti.
According to reports, it is alleged that in Dec 2017, the victim who lived with her father and stepmother was at home in Amaoti when her father came home and forcefully raped her when her stepmother was not at home.
The suspect blamed it on the victim’s mother for leaving him, he also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about what he did.
The suspect was later arrested, and a case of rape was opened at the Inanda police station and was transferred to the Inanda Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for investigation.
Asides the 20 years imprisonment given to the suspect, he was also declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be included in the National Register for Sexual Offenders.
The KwaZulu-Natal provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula has applauded the investigating officers of their effort in making sure that the suspect was kept in police custody throughout the trial.
