Paramedics have pronounced a four year old boy dead on the corners of Flamingo and Hydrangea Avenues, extension 3 Lenasia this afternoon, 17 September.
Two boys aged four and thirteen were brutally knocked down at approximately 13:10 at the busy intersection by a white Daihatsu traveling at approximately 80-90 km/ph, leaving one dead from severe head injuries whilst the other sustained slight bodily wounds and left the mother traumatized, adding to the staggering rate of 17 000 deaths a year on South African roads.
According to Aboobaker Sayed, head of Saaberie Chishty Ambulance who was on scene, SCA and Emer-G Med paramedics tried their utmost best to resuscitate the victim but to no avail as he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The deceased’s sibling was successfully treated and stabilized. Reliable sources state that the driver of the vehicle was an unlicensed foreign national who appeared to be in her 30’s and had apparently skipped a red robot.
SAPS and Metro Police responded swiftly on scene, however, no comment was obtainable.
