The question on almost everybody’s lips is ”What is Happening To Our Dear Country South Africa?”
Almost everyday, we get to wake up to a whole lot of disturbing and barbaric crimes. Ranging from rape, malicious murder, assault on women, attacks on farmers, killing of children, trafficking, drugs, theft, kidnapping, cash heists and many other crimes.
The people are saying the government and police are not doing enough to protect citizens while some are blaming it on foreigners.
Despite all these, a child identified as Minentle has been murdered in cold blood and dumped in an open field.
Before her body was found, police arrested a 56-year-old man in connection with the discovery of what was believed to be human remains of a female among reeds in an open field in TR-Section, Khayelitsha, on Thursday.
On May 13, three-year-old Courtney Pieters was found in a shallow grave after she went missing on May 4 in Elsies River, three days after the body of four-year-old Iyapha Yamile was found stuffed in a plastic bag on May 1 in Khayelitsha.
Five days later, 25-year-old Ntuthuzelo Mayekiso was arrested for the murder of fourteen-month-old Lindokuhle Kota in Khayelitsha.
When the child went missing, the family and community searching for her with her family hoping she would be found alive.
She went missing on Saturday at around 2pm.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said a post mortem would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
“Circumstances of the death of this child are under investigation,” he said.
The entire community is shocked and outraged. Almost everyone is in tears. The frustration is that our children are not safe in their community any more. It’s very painful.
Residents called for communities to unite against violence against women and children.
They also called for the reintroduction of specialised units in the police as a matter of urgency.
