Richards Bay Port is once again under severe crises on Monday.

Construction workers went on strike at the port entrance, situated in Newark Road.

Two police vehicles were overturned and workers bulldozed other infrastructure at the site.

The Police tried to calm things down by reportedly firing shots but things got out of hand and they withdrew.

The protest action is stems from workers at a construction company, contracted to the Transnet Ports Authority who are demanding to be employed permanently.

Residents were warned to stay away from the area.
