Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela has declared his team’s readiness for the new season.

His declaration comes despite Amakhosi’s 1-0 loss to Chippa United in the inaugural Premier’s Cup at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London at the weekend.

Chiefs will open their campaign with a home MTN8 quarterfinal clash against SuperSport United at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (8.15pm).

“I think it was a nice match, typical of Chippa who play good football and I think they gave us a good exercise,” Komphela reflected.

“In as much as you want to win pre-season friendlies, it’s not the ultimate objective. You want to see players and we saw what we wanted.

“So all we want to see is if you take out [Willard] Katsande and put in [Wiseman] Meyiwa, the team must still be there,” he said.

”We are coming big this time and we will get the job done.

“We are happy with what we have and we are ready for the season,” added Komphela.
