The organisers of the MTV Africa Music Awards (Mamas) have announced that Nigerian star Yemi Alade, South Africa’s Nasty C and Babes Wodumo would be headlining the event.
The three were unveiled as the first batch of stars set to dazzle audiences in thrilling performances on the big night at the TicketPro Dome on October 22. More big names will be announced in the coming weeks.
Last year, American comedian Anthony Anderson was given the hosting duties while in 2014 another American comedian, Marlon Wayans, got to host the awards much to the annoyance of many Africans. This year’s host has not been decided.
The awards were held in Durban in 2014 and 2015, this is the first time Johannesburg will host it.
The awards will honour the best African music stars in more than 18 award categories.
The organisers have promised fans and music lovers more stunning performances from African and international artists. More than 15000 fans are expected to swell the venue in anticipation of their favorite African stars.
