Honouring the best in US prime time television, the 68th annual Emmy Awards was held on Sunday, September 18 in Los Angeles, California. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, it preceded the Prime Time Creative Arts Emmy Awards that spanned over two magnificent nights, 10 and 11 September at the same venue – Microsoft Theatre where John Oliver won best variety talk and Regina King named best supporting actress for the second year in a row for her outstanding performance in American Crime.


Evolving from a series of fantasy novels by American author, George RR Martin titled ‘A Song of Fire and Ice’ in 1996, this year’s Emmy’s saw Game of Thrones unexpectedly rake the most overall nominations by far, thus breaking records this year receiving winning awards for best writing, best directing a well as the best drama bringing the series to an all time total of a whopping 38!


Although the cast, Kit Harrington, Peter Drinklage, Emilia Clark, Lena Headey and Maisie Williams went home without individual trophies, they all certainly enjoyed a spectacular time at the red carpet event.

Speculations of the future of this award winning series intensify as season six draws to an end and spectacles get bigger and bigger!
